What an amazing “job” I have that people look forward to seeing me and sad to go. My intention in every session is to give people a space for healing and to feel cared for. I am so grateful to have a client base of so many kind and generous long-standing clients. These are people who choose to visit me month after month, year after year. Many of my clients have shared over 15 wonderful years with me! I have come to realize that my approach really is a bit different from other therapists.
When you go to that local massage chain or a beautiful spa resort, who will your therapist be? You may request a certain person, but most likely you will be booked with the person who fits their needs, not yours. When a different therapist is presented each time how can you make real progress? Are those massages meeting your needs or reaching your goals? Does the therapist get to really know you and how your body responds each visit? When you do find that therapist, are they still working there on your next visit?
I looked recently at why all my clients are repeats and my books are full. In 2011 when I opened Melt Massage and Facial Studio, I never advertised. I have built my clientele by word of mouth. Yes, I offer years of experience, a broad knowledge of therapies, and an amazing massage, but why do my clients not seek out same day appointments or deals elsewhere? Because they cannot get me elsewhere. When my clients come in, their appointment is the highlight of their day or week or month. Maybe it’s the only time they get a few minutes to separate from their lives. I take the time to truly connect with my clients. We share laughs, tears, what we buy/eat/watch, more laughs, grief, celebration, and solve all the world’s problems over and over again. Clients are comfortable to share life stories, confide in me, vent their frustrations, and celebrate their wins with me. I work with families of multiple generations, spouses, co-workers, and even exes. Why does all that matter? Because it connects me to my clients in a way that benefits every massage session. It allows my clients to truly relax, feel heard, and trust they are in safe hands.
When my clients feel free to explain the physical and emotional stressors leading up to their massage appointment, it allows me to see and feel the body in a different way. I can take my therapy in a targeted direction to focus on healing those areas a client might not have even noticed. Very often the pain we feel is not the cause of the issue.
to all my clients who take the time to spend with me as we continue the healing for many years to come.
In 2001 I enrolled in massage school before I ever received a professional massage. Yes, that does sound impulsive, but I knew what I was meant to do. Working in an office was clearly not my passion and caused all those familiar desk job aches and stress. One day I woke up and said, “I need to become a massage therapist”. That was the best decision I ever made. As time progressed, yes, I received many professional massages and wanted to share the healing I received with others. I have been licensed since 2002 and love to further my education and learn new modalities and enhance my techniques.
In 2007 I headed back to school to become an esthetician. What a perfect blend massage and esthetics have become for my practice and my clients! My most popular treatment is a massage immediately followed by a facial.
I am so grateful to have a wonderful business partner, Theresa Toth, who opened Luminate Spa Space with me in 2015. Our place of serenity is a joy to house our businesses and share with other amazing strong female entrepreneurs.
I am married and have a daughter in kindergarten. I’m a little bit Snow White and a little bit Evil Queen. Forever enchanted with Stevie Nicks.
